Images from a Nunnery

These are prayer flags strung across a river gorge. They are printed with Buddhist prayers in Tibetan.

The river gorge during a snow flurry.

Most of the buildings of the nunnery are perched on a hillside by the river. The area is at about 14,000 feet.

A hazy picture of the nunnery buildings just before it began to snow.

More buildings of the nunnery.

A washing hole in the river, walled off to make a pool. The water was quite cold in general, but a hotsprings at this point in the river was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

A stupa (a sacred object which generally contains relics) at the foot of the hillside.
